The Society has a scholarship program to help Brooklyn and Long Island students meet educational expenses at colleges in New England. There have been well over 100 recipients of this scholarship since its inception.
Currently this supplementary scholarship program makes $5,000 awards to ten students annually. Checks for $2,500 are forwarded twice a year to educational institutions for deposit in the students’ accounts.
Typically the award is to a student from Brooklyn to attend a school or college in New England. The Society occasionally awards a scholarship to a student from the greater Long Island area to attend college in New England.
Qualifications
Applicants for our scholarship are evaluated for their academic and social performance. Grades and test scores are important, but so are character traits and extracurricular activities – as attested to by coaches, teachers, clergy, and after-school employers.
